La Baleine and the environment

We have taken great care of our salt marshes in Aigues-Mortes for many decades and have thus allowed a unique biodiversity to develop. Over 500 rare species of birds and plants and over 10 000 flamingos share this exceptional site.

This ecological awareness demonstrates La Baleine’s commitment to preserving and protecting the environment.

On our salt marshes in Aigues-Mortes, a micro-algae with many properties has developed: Dunaliella Salina. This natural cosmetic ingredient effectively fights skin ageing and has been used to develop a range of anti-ageing cosmetics: “ECLAE Prodige des Eaux Roses”.

This same awareness is also to be found on the salt marshes of the Atlantic coast, where La Baleine Guérande grey sea salt comes from. Salt production in these marshes has provided a home for various species of sea birds such as terns, gulls and kittiwakes.
